Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy

Draft for review: a licensed lawyer must review this document before Money Help launches.

The short version

  • Medical bills can show health care you received. We read and keep them only to track what you owe and pay.
  • We ask for your consent the first time you upload a medical bill. Without it, we do not read the bill and we delete the file.
  • We never sell health data or use it for ads. We share it only with Anthropic, to read the bill for us.

What health data we collect

From medical bills and insurer statements (EOBs) you upload: the provider name, the date of service, what the bill says you owe, what the insurer says you may owe, and what insurance paid. We do not collect procedure names or diagnosis codes as values. Next to each value we keep a short quote from the bill showing where it came from (so you can check it), but not the rest of the text. The file itself is stored encrypted. [Lawyer to complete.]

Why we use it

Only to show you what you owe and pay for medical care, and to help you check a bill against your insurer’s statement. [Lawyer to complete.]

Who we share it with

Anthropic reads the text of the bill (with long numbers hidden) and returns the values to us. Our hosting and storage providers keep it encrypted. We do not sell it or share it for advertising. [Lawyer to complete: processors, Washington My Health My Data Act requirements.]

Your rights

You can withdraw consent, see and delete your health data, and delete your account. [Lawyer to complete: how to use these rights, appeals, Washington, Nevada and Connecticut details.]
